Our Pastor
Pastor Larry J. Holman, Jr.
Pastor Larry James Holman Jr., of the First Missionary Baptist Church Hooper City, is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. His parents are (the late) Larry J. Holman Sr. and Barbara Myree Holman. He is the eldest of three children. He is married to his loving wife, the former Beatrice Freeman, whom he affectionately calls “Sweetie”. From this union they have three beautiful children, Joshua, Lauryn, and Jadine.
Pastor Holman accepted Christ at an early age. In his youth, he served as an active member of the First Baptist Church of Zion City under Pastor Johnny Waites, Sr. He and his family would later join Friendly Baptist Church under Pastor Roy F. Peterson. It was at that time that he would take heed to the calling on his life. He became a Licensed Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in June 2005.
Pastor Holman “was publicly ordained and set apart to do the work of the Gospel Ministry with prayer and the laying on of hands by ministers,” according to the practices of the Macedonia 17TH Street Baptist Church on Oct. 28, 2007, under his current Pastor Dr. Thomas E. Hunter. He served as Assistant to the Pastor at Macedonia 17th Street Baptist up until 2011.
After a full, fair, and deliberate examination being satisfied on all points by the Deacon Board, Trustees, Officers, and the Members of The First Missionary Baptist Church of Hooper City, he was elected Pastor and was installed as so in June of 2011.
Pastor Holman is a humble servant of GOD and a powerful advocate of Jesus Christ. He has a caring heart and a sincere devotion to his faith, family, parishioners, and the Gospel Ministry. His personal motto is “I serve GOD by serving his people”.
